Meet Abby!!! This adorable blue eyed girl is the baby of one of my dear friends. It was such an honor to photograph both of her little girls as newborns but even more special to follow along with their first year and beyond! For Abby’s 6 month session I pulled a few bonnets that I used for her big sisters 6 month session so mama could do side by sides of her girls. I love keeping sitter sessions simple with just a few fun props to really capture this fun stage. Six to eight months is one of my favorites because kiddos are starting to sit unassisted and their personalities really start to come out. Abby was SO smiley and fun to photograph and honestly such a sweetie pie. I cannot wait to see her again and capture her first birthday with a cake smash in just a few short months!! There are certain clients that will always hold a special place in your heart and this is one of those families. This mama was my FIRST paying client over 9 years ago. She trusted me to capture her daughters photos when she was just a toddler and has trusted me every year since. I have watched her family grow from 3 to 5, and captured these babies grow into some pretty incredible kids. With her oldest off to high school in the fall I cannot even believe I have captured her photos for almost a decade. This session like ALL of their sessions was so much fun. We had a little bit of an overcast day in May, but thankfully wasn’t too hot. We captured photos along the creek bed and then embraced the stormy, overcast clouds in the giant field. Her kids are fantastic and always up to run around the weeds with me!! We captured so many great shots and had a blast. Her kids have grown so much over the last year and I cannot wait to see them all again!! Here are some of my favorites.

This mother daughter duo is one of my favorite clients to photograph! This gorgeous girl just turned 8, and I started photographing her every year since 18 months!! I cannot believe how quickly those years have flown by and how grown up and gorgeous she has become!! We have wanted to photograph in the tulips at Burnside Farms in Nokesville for awhile but with schedules it can be super difficult. The tulips only bloom for about 3 weeks in April and really are at there mercy of the weather. But this year we made it happen! We had the best weather, most incredible sky, and the tulips were probably the peak of their bloom. We had so much fun running around the flower fields and catching up. It was so great enjoying a laid back session of hanging out and capturing their special bond. I am truly blessed to have been able to capture these 2 over the years and cannot wait to see what adventure our next session together unfolds!!

Marie Is One | Milestone Photographer | Cake Smash Session
Oh Miss Marie!! You sweet little thing!!! This baby girl is truly a real life doll baby! I absolutely LOVE this family and have had the pleasure of photographing her big brother and her newborn sessions and cake smashes! Her big brother’s session was a fun one and we knew we had to top it with something fit for a princess. When her mama decided on a Snow White theme I really wanted to make it magical and dreamy. I found this backdrop and instantly knew it would fit the look I was going for. I wanted to keep it fairly simple with the props, and actually had a really hard time finding the perfect mirror. So morning of the session I had this all setup (without the mirror) and liked it but I knew I had to find something. I had been searching for weeks but nothing was the right shape or size. On a last chance whim I went to home goods 2 hours before the session and found this circular mirror with brown wicker trim. It was the PERFECT size. I got home painted it gold and boom we had our missing piece. The paint may still have been wet when I photographed the session BUT that’s ok it was exactly the vision we had wanted.
I am absolutely obsessed with how this session turned out and how well her outfits and backdrop worked together. Miss Marie you truly made the most adorable Snow White!!! Here are my favorites!

As a maternity photographer (or a photographer in general), Government Island has been great for me this season! I love working with the creek, especially for maternity and family photoshoots.
Baby Naomi’s Newborn Session | Newborn Photographer
This session was so special for me, as a newborn photographer! I first met the Hawkins in 2021 when they had their son. During that time, it was the start of when I was getting back in the studio and had specific covid protocols set in place. The moms/families that trusted me so much during this time with my covid protocols really meant a lot to me and made each and every one of them have a special place in my heart. And the Hawkins were one of those families! They still came in for their son’s newborn session so having them back in the studio this year was extra special.
This time, they came in to see me when Naomi was 2 weeks old. Naomi is just the cutest kid ever! Her brother’s session a year prior was fun as well, and we got so many great photos from both sessions. When I have families come back for younger siblings, I always try to recreate some of the shots made at the older siblings newborn sessions so they can compare the two kids in similar settings at a similar age. It’s just so fun to look at both of them together like that! But, of course, I made sure the session was also a unique look specifically for Naomi!
The session was just a lot of fun and so awesome! Baby Naomi was sleeping when they arrived, so I went immediately into prop shots and was able to get some great photos there. Then I got her smiling and she had the cutest smile! We moved onto family photos, and I was able to get some beautiful photos of Naomi with her mom and dad. Then we went onto more props and from there, we ended the session on the bean bag.
Naomi was so squishy and chunky! She was ten pounds! It only made her more adorable! I loved the props and the family shots, and all around it was a great session! I got everything I wanted and I know I was able to capture those special pictures for the Hawkins family once again.

Beach Minis | Family Photographer | Woodbridge Virginia
Last year I began offering beach minis and it instantly became one of my favorite mini marathons to photograph. I absolutely love shooting on the river and really enjoy every family that comes to see me. This year I had 6 families all of which I have had the pleasure of knowing either personally or from past sessions. It couldn’t have been a more successful night of great photographs and amazing memories. We had a super hot day, but was pleasant in the shade. The only disadvantage of summer minis is the park is usually PACKED, but that did not stop every single one of these groups from being incredible to work with. We found our little nook along the water and just worked around all of the people haha! The best part Is when my clients receive their images and cannot believe how isolated our location looked because they remember the audience we had during their session :). I love being able to create using the energy from the chaotic beach and make it look like we are the only ones there!
Beach sessions are some of my favorites and I look forward to capturing them every year!! I love that we can use the same location and still manage to make each family’s portraits look a little bit different! Whether you are the first session or the last of the day we always manage to take advantage of the gorgeous location and light and make some magic!
Minis are also a great way to snag some special mommy and me portraits, or just photos of your kids! They are not limited to only family sessions. Minis are meant to be fun and simple and celebrate this season on your life! If you are interested in mini sessions do not hesitate to reach out!
