Yesterday’s warm weather reminded me of the magic that happened last summer! I had SO many incredible clients and sessions and this maternity session was ONE OF THEM!! This adorable couple was getting ready to welcome their baby boy and their session was amazing! The love these 2 share is off the charts and the entire session was just one beautiful photo after the next! Narrowing down favorites was tough but here were some :):)
On this FREEZING cold January day I had to blog about one of my favorite maternity sessions!!! It was a WARM and PERFECT day!! This adorable couple wanted to include their first baby in their maternity photos and I loved every minute of it. You know I am a sucker for a cute pup <3 We had a blast running all over and celebrating their first pregnancy! When this mama showed me the maternity gowns she brought for her session I about did a back flip because they are gorgeous and she is absolutely STUNNING in them! We shot in fields, the creek, the woods, EVERYTHING. It was amazing! Here are my favorite!!
This summer I photographed another one of my favorite families for their last family/maternity session before welcoming their second baby boy. We had a gorgeous evening which is rare in Virginia, but I do not remember it being too terribly warm. And the light was PERFECT. We had lots of laughs and fun running around the park and watching Dominic steal the show. He is such a ham and full of personality. I have loved capturing this adorable family over the last two years and feel so lucky to continue to capture their family photos. Here are my favs:
This summer I had such a great time capturing this gorgeous mama and her family! This session was a tricky one to shoot because the forecast was ALL over the map and changed every 10 minutes. But with a little luck on our side we got an incredible day with amazing light. Tobia you are one beautiful mama!! Here are some of my favorites!
Why milk baths? Ya know, I am not exactly sure what drew me to them other than I thought they were peaceful and beautiful and I loved the way they celebrated a pregnant body. Before I was ever pregnant I really wanted one for my own maternity photos. We took a ton of belly photos and felt like the milk bath was very different than anything I had ever really shot and wanted to give it a try. So I figured out what I needed and got Jeremy on board! He shot our first part of the series when I was 36 weeks pregnant and after that I knew this was how I wanted to show Fin's growth over the next year. It was something special that Fin and I could share and also a fun monthly family project lol ;) and at the end of the year we would have one heck of an album. We have taken SO many amazing photos of her this year but this series has been my ultimate goal. Each month we have racked our brains to come up with something a little different and more unique than the month before but similar enough for them to all flow. Some worked out better than others but overall it turned out just the way I had hoped. Each month has a different story about the fiasco of shooting it, or how Fin wanted to eat everything in the tub, or throw a fit, or even the arguments Jeremy and I had about the logistics of them. But every single month Jeremy was right there making sure he captured exactly what I wanted. He did a phenomenal job and cannot thank him enough for the patience he gave me this year for our 700 photo shoots. So here is one photo from each month. I kept the pose similar so you could see how much this little one has changed! Thank you for following along with us!! <3
I have no clue how I got so lucky this winter to have warm weathered days in January, but here was another RIDICULOUSLY gorgeous January maternity session! The light was amazing, the temp was cool but not too cold, and this family was INCREDIBLE!! These 3 boys were rockstar models as we celebrated mama's gorgeous bump and their last family photos before their baby sister arrived. Sarah was glowing and we could not have found a better location. Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful moments in life. It is something so incredibly unique and special and is one of my favorite seasons of life to capture. It becomes even more memorable when you are able to capture the pregnancy journey for someone else who has played a significant role in your own life. I met Ashley in 2016 when Jeremy and I were starting the IVF process. She was part of the incredible team that helped make our baby dreams come true. She was one of the phenomenal nurses we met along the way I will never forget her upbeat and compassionate energy from day one. She wasn't our main nurse and yet I felt like we connected instantly. She guided us through the scary process of IVF injections and truly went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and confident through the entire IVF process. When she contacted me shortly after Fin was born to tell me she was expecting I instantly started bawling. I was so honored that she remembered I was a newborn photographer and that she chose me to capture this season of her life.
I met her and her hubby in one of my favorite locations in the middle of January. When we were planning her session we expected a FREEZING cold day and made sure we would have a location close enough to the car in case we needed to warm her up midway through. Well the universe smiled down on us that day because we were blessed and shocked to have 70 degree weather. Yes you read that correctly 70 degrees in the middle of January! I do believe I was sweating by the end of the session! HA!! We had the most incredible light and they were an absolute blast to explore the woods with. I loved celebrating this time with them and LOVED every single photo we took. Here are some of my favorites (yes there are a lot :) )
This mama to be absolutely rocked her maternity session! On one of the colder fall evenings last November we took an adventure to the river for her and her hubby's maternity session. The leaves had all fallen off for the year except for one tree and we went with it! Late fall can be tough but this beautiful mama made this location look like a fairy tale! At the end she even wanted to brave the FREEZING water for some stunning river shots. Here is a little peek into our session!
Last fall I had the pleasure of photographing this ADORABLE family for their maternity session! We had a surprisingly warm day for such a late November date and the leaves were PERFECT! Leaves were brown everywhere else but this magical spot! They are the cutest family and their baby girl was so much fun! She is already an amazing big sister :) Here are my favorites!
